Quality Assurance Engineer

Salary: Up to $100K + Bonus + Options

Position Responsibilities:

AGORA Consulting seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Engineering organization for our Client, a global web services organization. In this role, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Driving the full life-cycle quality assurance for a large-scale enterprise software application, work with the development team, product management, product architects and documentation to ensure the requirements and design are translated into efficient test case design and implementation, as well as make recommendations to improve product reliability, performance, quality assurance best practices and processes.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science with 3+ years experience of applicable software engineering in a QA and/or software development role
  • Working knowledge of testing one or more enterprise software applications which leverage J2EE and related technologies as well as application servers such as Jboss, Weblogic and/or Websphere
  • 2+ years of RDBMS systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, and/or DB2
  • Experience developing/testing J2EE applications, web based applications,
    and XML
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and web based technologies
  • Familiarity ETL, MDX, Stored Procedures, OLAP, are all pluses
  • Technical programming background with experience developing automated api, user interface and load/performance tests using third party testing tools such as Mercury's QuickTest Professional and LoadRunner
  • Strong experience with QA methodologies and procedures such as test case management and defect management
  • Experience working with defect management tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, or Rational ClearQuest
  • Direct experience in requirements analysis, use case analysis, and design analysis to develop test designs and test automation and procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to define alternatives, make appropriate recommendations and provide strategies for the resolution of issues at the platform, tool/utility and software levels
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exposure to software development lifecycle methodologies such as RUP (Rational Unified Process) as well as Agile development methodologies like Scrum and XP
  • Proven dedication to quality and a strong commitment to the customer satisfaction
  • Proven ability to be self directed and self sufficient


The major roles and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop and execute load/performance test scripts against both Web and
    Java APIs
  • Design and implementing tests both automated and manual which provide sufficient coverage to the user requirements
  • Work with a defect management system for tracking and logging defects, verifying fixes, and collecting metrics
  • Collaborating with other QA engineers, developers, technical writers and solution deployment engineers to derive robust test plans
  • Performing functional and systems tests to assess quality software and readiness of shipment of the software application to the customer
  • Defining tasks and work breakdown structure for all QA activities to support a predictable software release schedule
