Position Responsibilities:
AGORA Consulting has been retained by American Tract Society (ATS)
to recruit their new Vice President of Development. Located in Garland,
Texas, the Vice President of Development is charged with the responsibility
of managing activities related to the analysis, planning, execution,
control and evaluation of fundraising programs. He/she serves as
a member of the Executive Team and the Development Committee, attending
meetings as necessary for proper communication and coordination
of responsibilities.
The key area of responsibility for the Vice President of Development
is to identify and recruit new ministry donors for ATS.
Principle Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative and executive staff support, as related
to fundraising, in all activities
2. Identify and Recruit Major Donors:
Research or manage the research of data on prospective donors including
individuals, corporations and foundations identified by Board members,
staff, other volunteers, events and through other means
3. Manage ATS's donor stewardship program
- Personal phone calls/letters/reports each year to donors, foundations,
corporations, churches and individuals.
- Meet with existing donors both locally and nationally to develop
relationships and to keep donors current on ministry opportunities
4. Prepare written materials
- Proposals for foundations, corporations, churches and individuals
- Write monthly appeal letters
5. Responsible for creation/marketing and implementation of ATS
Planned Giving Program
- Identify/cultivate/steward potential planned giving donors
- Areas of concentration: stocks, gift annuities, wills, estate
plans
- Send two mailings a year regarding gift annuities
- Work with our accountants to prepare gift annuity contracts.
- Maintain regular contact with those who have established gift
annuities
6. Manage preparation of fundraising materials necessary for generating
donor dollars including but not limited to newsletters, brochures,
videos, annual report and other collateral materials
7. Remain up-to-date on current fundraising and communications 'best
practices' being used in the nonprofit sector and infuse ATS's programs
with those state-of-the-art practices as appropriate
8. Pull together the annual fundraising plan for gift income for
approval by the Development Committee and Chief Executive Officer
9. Prepare detailed plans of actions for all approved fundraising
and communications programs, including budgets to support their
implementation
10. Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that all fundraising
and communications programs are consistent with the overall mission
and philosophy of ATS and the concepts of each program and service
11. Monitor ongoing fundraising operations to track expense and
revenue streams and ensure that operations remain in-line with goals.
